Cookies and what this site stores
Most websites open with a banner asking permission to track you. This one does not, because there is nothing to ask about: we set no cookies, we run no analytics and we do not advertise to you. This page explains what is stored instead, and why.
We do not use cookies
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep, usually so that it can recognise your device on a later visit. This website does not set any.
It also does not use any of the things cookies are normally set for. There is no Google Analytics or other visitor measurement, no tag manager, no advertising or remarketing pixel, no social media tracking, no heatmap or session recording, and no third-party chat widget. We do not build a profile of you and we do not follow you to other websites.
The fonts and images on this site are served from our own domain rather than from a content delivery network, so simply opening a page does not tell anyone else that you did.
What is stored in your browser
A few small preferences are kept inside your own browser so that the site does not repeat itself. They stay on your device, they are never sent to us, and we cannot read them. Each one is written only because you did something that asked for it.

None of these contains a name, an identifier, a postcode, a service you looked at, or anything you typed. Nothing you enter into the care guide or the Request Care form is stored on your device or anywhere else.
You can delete them at any time through your browser’s settings, or by using a private browsing window. The site works perfectly well without them — you will simply see the care guide prompt again.
Why there is no cookie banner
The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations require your consent before a website stores information on your device or reads information from it. There is one exception: storage that is strictly necessary for a service you have explicitly asked for.
The four items above fall within that exception. Each is written as the direct result of something you did, each remembers only that you did it, and none of them is used to measure, identify or advertise to you. So there is nothing here we need your permission for, and putting a banner in front of the page would be asking a question with no answer behind it.
If we ever add something that does need consent — measurement, advertising, or an embedded service that tracks you — we will ask first, refusing will be exactly as easy as agreeing, nothing will be set before you choose, and this page will be updated to list it.
The CQC ratings widget
The Care Quality Commission publishes a small widget that displays a provider’s current rating, and we use it rather than drawing our own badge so that the rating you see is the CQC’s own and cannot go out of date.
It is loaded directly from the CQC’s servers, which makes it the only third-party request on this website. That means the CQC receives the internet address of the device viewing any page it appears on, along with the usual technical details a web request carries, and anything the CQC stores on your device is governed by the CQC’s own policies rather than ours.
Every fact the widget shows — the rating, what it covers and when it was published — is also written out as ordinary text beside it. If you block the widget, or use a browser with scripting turned off, you lose nothing but the badge.
Links to other websites
This site links out to the Care Quality Commission, to review sites such as Trustpilot and Homecare.co.uk, and to public bodies including the Information Commissioner’s Office. Those organisations set their own cookies and have their own policies, and we have no control over either.
Following a link from here does not pass any of your details to the site you arrive at beyond what your browser sends to any website you visit.
Controlling what is stored
Every modern browser lets you see what a website has stored, delete it, and refuse storage in future. The settings are usually found under Privacy, Cookies, or Site data. Blocking storage for this site will not stop any page from working.
